She is doing well. She was born at 7 lbs 4 oz. and at her first checkup was only down to 6 lbs. 10 oz. Now for her two week appointment she was up to 7 lbs. 6 oz. The doctor said she was doing great.
Wednesday and Thursday I went in with Sally and had the fun of seeing the new baby and enjoying Cora.
Cora still makes me feel special. She is a real buddy. Grandpa puts Elmo on and we read books, play with her toys and let her go through "our pocket". She thinks we share that shirt pocket and all that it contains. So when she empties it, we share a couple of Listerine Breath Strips.
Hazel doesn't do much yet. But what she does she does very well. Sleep, eat, poop; the usual baby stuff. And did I mention that she is just perfect?
That's minty isn't it? Wait. It gets stronger!
WHOA! Those make a little girl pucker. Thanks, Grandpa.
She actually ask for these breath strips.
Look at that little doll! Cora is absolutely correct. She's so cute.
She sleeps with her hands up.
Even though the focus is bad you can see the big grin. That must have felt awfully good.
Then she sleeps with her hands down. See how perfectly she fits in my hand. It is hard to believe that they can go from this to a Cora or Logan in only two years.
Hazel is in the swing and Cora is playing with the swing. Every time Hazel whimpers Cora says, "Oh-oh! Sad noise."
But Hazel is just fine. No crying, no problem.
Cora is taking a last fling is the busy saucer. We are returning it to the lender for their new babe.
When Cora first got this her feet didn't reach the ground. Now she stands in it.
She can almost see the television from there.
She really gets into the children's songs on YouTube. Five Little Monkeys, The Wheels On The Bus, etc. There tons of them
And they're even better when watched from Grandma's lap.
Julieanna offer Cora an afternoon cup of milk. Cora readily accepted, saying, "I'd love a cup of chocolate." That wasn't offered but Julieanna couldn't resist either. Cora doesn't pause to breathe until the cup is drained.
Mom relaxing with Hazel. Aren't they sweet? Oh! Hazel can rip a great burp.
When Cora thinks Hazel has had enough attention she will say, "Put baby chair." Or, "Put baby bed." She has been heard to say, "Give baby Grandpa. Go ahead!" And "Put that thing down."
Don't think this means she is jealous. She really just likes to direct the activity. She did call each and all of us to see the baby. Waving her hand and calling, "Mom, see Hazel. Grandpa, come, come see baby. Grandma, come here. See the baby? She so cute."
Cora has several other manners of speech that are delightful to me. She climbed into her highchair and tried to buckle-up. She said, "Grandpa? Help you."
I asked, "Do you want me to help you?"
Cora replies with an enthusiastic, "Okay." As if it was my idea. Then she says the same thing over and over. I don't understand and start to ask about all manner of things to eat. Bread, raisins, rye bread, cereal, etc. Cora looks at me with such frustration. I sat down next to her at the table and put my hand on her little hand said, "I know this is frustrating, Sweetheart, Grandpa isn't hearing what you want."
She put her other hand on top of my hand on top of her hand and said it one more time. Suddenly the light went on above my head, "PLAY-DOH!" and Cora responded , "Okay!"
So we played with play-doh for and hour and a half.
A little video of Cora watching the Five Little Monkeys.
Hazel with her eyes open and some animation.
