Piper Day Two

"What wonder have we wrought."

I don't know what that quote is from; but fitted to the occasion.  A day later and she is still as wonderful and beautiful as yesterday. You figure out who I am speaking of.
Grandma has a arm load of special. She isn't really letting Piper's head fall off.

Yes they have started that thing in her mouth. It won't last long the way she goes at it. Piper chews the crap out of it.

Of course she slowed down when I decided to take a video of her.

There is the finest head of hair we have had in our family. Superior to her dad, uncle, aunt, cousins or sister.

I suggested to Kyle, yesterday, that perhaps this is where his hair has been going. If that is how it worked out he has given to a wonderful cause.
I had my share of holding today. I held her until my arms were falling off. It's hell getting old when you still have love to give.

Non-Sequitur, Earlier Will Follow Later

PIPER'S FIRST DAY
Kyle called and said they were on their way to the hospital. Sue came to their house to stay with Logan and he would call later.

It wasn't very much later that he called to say it was going to be today.

It was a bit after 9 am that he called to say we should come on down that she would be here by the time we got there.

So we finished grabbing a muffin and taking our medicine and hit the road to Highland Park.

We arrived about 10:30 and as luck would have it we parked and went in the wrong door. The guard there said we were in the wrong place. We needed to go to the last stop sign and turn left; go in the main hospital entrance and they could direct us. "Feel free to use the complimentary valet parking.", he said. We didn't.

A volunteer guide in a wheel chair led us to "Women's Services". It was 10:50 when they signed us in and directed us down the hall to Kyle's and Sarah's room. Steve met us in the hall and congratulations were exchanged. He was beaming. Then we saw Sue. She had brought Logan over.

There they were.

Logan is already love struck.

Yep! She looks just like a baby!
Eventually Grandma let me hold her. She is so small and dainty.

Logan is ending her battle with a cold. She needs her mommy's love.

Our first talk. She won't remember this; but I hope I always do.

Her cold, pale little hand grips a fat, warm finger. She is so sweet.

Piper is not letting go. I pretend she likes me and wants to hold on.

We think these are all pictures of her story. Piper is only about and hour and a half in these pictures.

Kyle was going to take a picture of Logan while at her mom's side. Sarah said, "Look at Daddy." Being interrupted apparently annoyed her or she misunderstood. Rather than look at Daddy, she gave Daddy a look.

Then I had to relinquish my stake in Piper. It was time to check vitals again. I warned her not to ruin her. We want to keep her perfect.

Grandma gives Logan some loving too.

Piper is so peaceful. What a little doll.
Under that stocking cap is a head of hair.

Yes, Grandma had a lion's (or is that lioness') share of Piper holding.
Logan is a great 'Big Sister'. She has a lot of first hand experience with love.
